The future is bright with two talented youngsters joining Bourton Vale Cricket Club for the 2024 season.

Firstly, eighteen year-old and seamer Fin Burford has joined the club from Harvington and looks to be an exciting prospect. 

Secondly, we are absolutely delighted that Lysander Tarrant will be rejoining us after a couple of seasons at Cheltenham CC. 

A classy batsman and leg spin bowler, Tarrant had broken into the first team at BVCC at the age of 15 before his move. Now almost eighteen, and and with experience at a higher level, this will only benefit him this season. 

Skipper Darrel Williams said:

"It's brilliant that both Fin and Lysander have joined the club this season. Both lads are at an age in which their best cricketing years are ahead of them and we are excited that they have chosen BVCC to continue their development."

"Lysander is an exciting all-rounder who has previously played for the club and we are thrilled to have him back with us. Fin is a really promising seamer and handy batter who will be knocking of the door of the first team this season."

As we continue the new signing announcements, we are incredibly excited to welcome the talented Ollie Whiteley to Bourton Vale Cricket Club.

The 20-year-old scored 842 runs last season for Stroud, with 632 in the league at an average of 48.62, including a fluent 67 against us!

Having represented Oxfordshire and Wiltshire at youth level, Ollie spent a winter in Brisbane in 2022/23, scoring 800 runs and winning player of the year and was named in the league team of the year.

He says" I'm really looking forward to playing for BVCC. It's a great club with lots of ambition, and hopefully we can push on and get back to where we want to be"

Bourton Vale Head of Cricket, Rob Langley added "We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring Ollie to The Vale. He is a player who has been on our radar for a while and has a proven record in this league and someone we feel can take us to the next level. He's the perfect type of player, and person, that we are looking to attract to the club. We all wish him all the luck and can't wait to get going!"

In a week of exciting announcements, we are delighted to welcome Kiwi batsman Rupert Young to Bourton Vale Cricket Club as our overseas player for 2024.

A versatile player with a proven record in the UK, he will play a key role for us this season off the back of a match winning century in his grand final back home. 

Skipper Darrel Williams said "I am really excited by the signing of Rupert for The Vale this season. He joins us on the back of a title-winning season season in New Zealand where he score a match-winning knock in the Grand Final, and with his experience of playing in England last season I'm sure he will be keen to build on his numbers this summer"

We are absolutely delighted to have signed top order batsman and off spinner Tom Horrell for the upcoming season.

Tom has gained some valuable experience in WEPL Prem Two, captaining Stroud CC and enjoying five title-contending seasons with Corsham CC in WEPL Prem One and Two.

A minor county representative, Tom has racked up 30 senior hundreds, 60 senior fifties and boasts over 200 wickets in WEPL.

Bourton Vale Cricket Club is delighted to confirm that Max Shepherd has joined the club after two years playing at Cheltenham.

In that period, Max has gained some valuable experience playing minor county cricket for Devon.

He says "Bourton Vale holds a very special place in my heart. I've come back to win and get this great club up a division or tow where it belongs to be.

The signing of Darrel Williams as captain shows how ambitious the club is and I cant wait to work with him and learn lots from him.

We are delighted to welcome Darrel Williams to Bourton Vale Cricket Club.

Darrel will join as First XI Captain with a huge amount of experience both playing and coaching.

Spending 12 years involved with Worcestershire, including the Worcestershire Academy and 2nd XI teams, Darrel made two first class appearances for Durham MCCU. He then enjoyed a successful reign as captain at Barnt Green in the Birmingham Premier League, winning three trophies in three years.

He says “I’m really looking forward to getting involved with ‘The Vale’ and will be heavily involved in the club improving and hopefully getting the club back to where it belongs in the WEPL.”
“It’s a fantastic challenge and I’m excited in helping and supporting players of all ages at BVCC improve and continue loving being part of this great club”

Darrel will take over from outgoing skipper Charlie Garratt after seven years at the helm.

Chairman Kevin Langley says “We are absolutely delighted to have Darrel joining us from the Birmingham League where he has been playing for several years. 

“He has been a regular for Oxfordshire CCC over recent years, and growing up and living in the Cotswolds, he is very well connected to local players.”

“We believe that his arrival will bring a complete reset to our Club and will drive us forward to bigger and better performances at all levels.”
